Going purposefully against the daily overflowing digital conceptions, I want to propose here a pared down alternative, with a deliberately restricted and minimal colour range. The aim is to get to your heart, refine the painting to touch your instinct, focusing on your feelings, believing that « less is more » (Mies Van Der Rohe).
My work focuses on putting the secondary elements, those that you cannot or no longer see, back into the limelight. I let the materials guide me and gradually a story or a feeling begins to unfold. I want the foundations of the painting to become the focal point, for the hidden story to be brought into the light.
Slowly, discretely, the different materials, minerals, their texture, colours and details, fuse into a symphony which brings back memories, emotions…
“Art does not want the representation of a beautiful thing, but the beautiful representation of something.”
